Murphy Road Construction Update:

Unknown-4According to the Murphy Messenger, this is the latest on the Murphy Road Expansion:

Begin Date March 2013 (took two years prior to clear utilities)

Projected Ending Date:  January 2015

Plan:

*Expand the three-mile long road from 2551Murphy Road from FM544 to 2514

*Increase traffic flow and safety

*Will be a six lane urban boulevard with a raised median and dedicated turning lanes

Construction Process:

Phase 1:  Build two lanes on the east side

Phase 2:  Switch traffic to the east side and begin excavating the west side

Phase 3:  Build medians and left turn lanes

Notes:

*Three additional traffic signals will be built

*TxDOT representatives Barry Heard and Juan Paredes believe the public will see “quick progess from this point out.”

*This is a $15.7 million dollar project funded by the regional toll revenue (RTR) appropriated by the Regional Transportation Council of the North Central Texas Council of Governments.  If the RTR hadn’t funded this project then it wouldn’t have happened at all.  The cities of Murphy and Parker are very fortunate.”
