Starting October 13 of this year, Southwest will offer nonstop routes from Dallas Love Field to 15 different cities! On October 13, the Wright Amendment, a federal law which has flight restrictions, will expire. This new schedule will increase flights per day from about 20 to about 140 and should also decrease the fare in a number of cities.
Also, last month Southwest announced it will begin offering international flights and the construction of an international terminal at Houston’s Hobby airport.
Southwest has also merged with American Airlines-US Airways. This also helped Southwest to gain flights on a daily basis because American had to relinquish some flights and some gates.
Sales and schedules for the nonstop flights begin in May.
