Way to go Wylie High School!  The Culinary Arts Team placed 3rd out of 59 high schools at the ProStart Culinary Competition on February 7 and 8.  The competition was held in Katy, Texas and 440 students were in attendance.  The top six spots in culinary and the top six spots in management advance to the State Finals which will be in Waco, Texas on March 7 and 8.  Good Luck Students!

The Culinary Arts Team is coached by Chef Rob Richards and Melissa Rushing.  The Culinary Team is comprised of Michael Durbin, Ellie Mancilla, Mercy Ugorji, Amber Sanchez and Bailee Weeks.  They are supported by team members Gia Cadena, Ashley Crawford, Brittney Hathcoat, Huy Ly and Jordan Schumacher.

The students practice their cooking at Wylie High School’s Pirate Cove Café.  They are learning more than cooking, though.  They are being taught how to prepare for the rest of their lives! They are learning responsibility, ownership and building character.

The Pirate Cove Café  is open Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. for breakfast and 11:45 to 2:00 p.m. for lunch….typically.  Due to their busy schedule, please call the front office at Wylie High School to make sure they are open that day.  The office number is 972-429-3100.
